Grantee Spotlight: Confident Girl Mentoring

Confident Girl Mentoring, Program, Inc. Confident Girl Mentoring Program, Inc. (CGMP) is an elite evidence-based nonprofit group mentoring organization that is nationally recognized as a best practice for mentoring opportunities by MENTOR. CGMP’s five-point mentoring system empower girls ages 7-19 from marginalized communities to stretch themselves beyond their comfort zone to build their capacity to improve their self esteem and confidence. CGMP partners with stakeholders and community organizations that are committed to improving the health and wellness of youth and families by building bi-directional, trusting and long lasting, meaningful relationships. Since its inception, CGMP Inc has reached over 1,000 youth who are often living in or below the poverty level.
A 2019 grant from the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Legacy Funds administered by the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo supported Jump 4 Confidence©, a jumping rope team that improves fitness levels, builds self-esteem, and demonstrates that exercise can be fun and enjoyable. This team helps carry out the mission of CGMP, which is to embody developmental strategies and workshops that take students on a journey to self-discovery and development while understanding the importance of taking care of the mind, body and spirit.
