Grantee Spotlight- West Side Rowing

At Project Play Western New York, we are grateful for all of our partners in youth sports across the region. In each newsletter, we feature the important work of our grantees.

The West Side Rowing Club (WSRC) is a nonprofit organization run by volunteers whose purpose is the advancement of the physical, mental, and moral well being of the youth of the City of Buffalo and surrounding communities by education, training, instruction and participation in the art of rowing and other athletic pursuits. WSRC was founded in 1912 and looks to continue a long and successful tradition in the rowing community for many years to come. Athletes travel from many areas of Western New York to row at WSRC, and participate in year-round rowing programs and summer camps.

As a 2019 recipient of a Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Legacy Fund grant, WSRC will now be able to provide free access to its summer camp to youth that do not currently have access to rowing. This will support its ongoing efforts to expand the inclusivity of the sport of rowing.
