Grants & Recognitions

As part of its mission to give children the opportunity to lead active, healthy and fun lifestyles, Project Play WNY awards grants to organizations providing youth sports and “Free Play” programming, and celebrates the contributions of athletes, coaches, schools and communities.

  • 2024 Summer Free Play Series Grant

    The application window is NOW OPEN for Project Play WNY’s Free Play Series Grant. The goal for the series is providing youth in all eight counties of Western New York opportunities to have fun and enjoy Free Play during summer break. The grant application window closes April 5.

  • Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation Legacy Grants

    In 2015, the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation established endowment funds at the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo to provide annual support for programs and initiatives that reflect the personal passions of Mr. Wilson. These areas of support are: Caregivers, Community Assets, Design and Access and Youth Sports. This grant application window will open in November.

  • Coaches Awards

    2023 honorees for Project Play WNY’s Coaches Honor Roll Award and Dick Gallagher Lifetime Service Award were celebrated at an event at Highmark Stadium in October. Nominations open for 2024 next summer.

  • Multisport Student Athlete Award

    Project Play WNY is proud to announce the recipients of the 2023 Multisport Student Athlete Award. The selected candidates were recognized in The Buffalo News on Wednesday, June 7.
