Summer of PlayPacks

In a summer like no other, Project Play WNY is partnering with Victory Sports and youth-serving organizations to distribute PlayPacks to help keep kids active and engaged. The PlayPacks typically include a playground ball, two tennis balls, jump ropes, chalk, and our Free Play deck of cards. All the equipment you need to play many of the activities in the card deck.

To help increase engagement, we also have relaunched our WNY Free Play Challenge program. After registering, participants receive an email each Monday with a different challenge. Throughout the week, participants will email or tag Project Play WNY on social media with videos and pictures of themselves doing the challenge. Each week a different winner is picked and receives additional free play equipment to help them play all summer long.

To date, 1000 PlayPacks have gone out to WNY families, and we plan to distribute an additional 3500 before the end of August. If your organization would like to participate in a PlayPack distribution and the Free Play Challenge, please email us at projectplaywny@cfgb.org.

At Project Play WNY, we know that it takes more than a PlayPack to keep our kids moving during these unprecedented times. We are continuing to fund, support, and convene youth sport organizations to tackle the larger problem of access and cost to youth sports. However, as one youth sport leader stated, “in the meantime the PlayPacks do help make this summer less of a bummer.” We hope you join the fun.
